The DS type is a manually controlled searchlight, to be controlled from directly behind the searchlight. The DS type is the most cost-efficient searchlight version, chosen because of low price and for smaller, open bridges with direct access to the searchlight outside.
The DH type searchlight is a manually controlled searchlight, to be controlled from directly behind the searchlight. The DH type is similar to the DS type, but executed with a higher column, allowing for searchlight operation in an upright standing position, without the need for a separate mounting skid for the light.
